Thanks, Walter. Yeah, it's nice to write about current events, but I'm also trying to create some pieces that aren't so tied to the moment...

So helpful to see the three functions of society over long ages and many cultures! Thanks very much for connecting this and succinctly describing Piketty's work. You are making the case that social threefolding is not radical at all; it is "merely" conscious.

Thanks, Linda. Great point.

What a vivid expansion of Steiner's indication that threefolding is not a division in people but in the functions of society... This was very enriching and clarifying for me. Thank you!

Seth- I really appreciate your connecting Steiner to kindred spirits, like Piketty. It reveals that these are universal ideals that keep manifesting and not just the academics of personalities. And also to show the limits of Piketty’s thinking. An excellent overview and it builds bridges. Thank You.

Thank you, Seth for stating the obvious or what might be called an "open secret" that we already live in a threefold world. Beautiful.

RESOURCES: In case anyone's interested in looking deeper into trifunctionalism in premodern societies, I just started reading Georges Duby's "The Three Orders," which looks especially at the middle ages. So far it's been great - really rich and dynamic, especially for an academic work.

If you know of any books specifically looking at trifunctionalism, please reply to this comment and let me know.
