Great piece, though I beg to disagree that the Supreme Court consists of the most brilliant (legal) minds in America.
It seems to me that one of the roles of education is to expose children to different viewpoints and perspectives. Knowing what is appropriate for a given age is the role of the teacher.
As for nature, on my dark days I look at where the world is heading and wonder why we bother teaching anything about it at all.
If I had children today, I would join a community that is Natured-base where children would be homeschooled with Waldorf curriculum, or similar, before I would entrust my child to our current school system where government mandates and overrules parental rights.
Yeah, I probably should have put a “supposedly” before “most brilliant legal minds.” But I can’t really say, as I don’t have much expertise in the field…
